Bio

Dr. Culpepper is a board certified family physician with 30 years of private practice experience. He has led Bent Tree Family Physicians from a solo practice in 1987, to now offering 18 providers with 75 employees at two locations.

Among his many honors, Dr. Culpepper’s passion for excellence in healthcare has been recognized in D magazine for 25 years, Texas Monthly for 16 years, and in Town and Country as one of America’s best family physicians.

Dr. Culpepper’s leadership has been seen at every stage of his career, serving as both the Chief Resident in Family Medicine and as the President of the Medical and Surgical Residents at St. Paul Hospital. He served on the founding Board of Trustees at THR Hospital of Plano, where he also founded the Department of Family Medicine and served as President of the Medical Board. He presently serves on the Board of Trustees at Medical City Plano and Medical City Frisco, and on the boards of TXCIN and PIN.

Since 1995 Dr. Culpepper has served as President and CEO of the Jefferson Physician Group, an organization of over 230 independent PCPs dedicated to improving North Texas healthcare. In 2017, the Jefferson Physician Group expanded their impact by forming the Jefferson Specialty Network, inviting their member’s preferred specialists. Jefferson Physician Group now represents over 325 of the most recognized independent physicians in North Texas. JPG was a founding member of Texas Clinical Integrated Network, TXCIN, which provides the strength of over 1000 physicians, and multiple IPAs, coming together to excel in value-based contracting and creatively addressing the changes in healthcare.
